I think it might be easier to add a checkbox to the result input screen which if ticked would cause a game result to be ignored when calculating the table, but not for other purposes (such as top scorers or yellow cards). This would allow an annulled game to be also a walkover, for example.

Professional League had such an option and it worked fairly well.
