Toooor is, unfortunately, a piece of manure not only because of its Win 3.1 era visual design and interface, but also because users are deceived into thinking they own unique and valuable stats. For example, you might suppose that you have an almost complete reference for the old Regionalliga (1963-1974). But if you delve into this a bit, you will be sadly disillusioned. For example, this is Toooor's version of Alemannia Aachen's fixture list for the second half of the 1963-64 season:
20 29.12.1963 Alemannia Aachen STV Horst-Emscher 6 : 0
21 05.01.1964 Schwarz-Weiß Essen Alemannia Aachen 1 : 9
22 12.01.1964 VfB Bottrop Alemannia Aachen 2 : 1
23 19.01.1964 Alemannia Aachen Borussia Mönchengladbach 3 : 0
24 26.01.1964 Fortuna Düsseldorf Alemannia Aachen 5 : 3
25 02.02.1964 Alemannia Aachen Viktoria Köln 2 : 0
26 16.02.1964 SV Hamborn 07 Alemannia Aachen 0 : 0
27 23.02.1964 Alemannia Aachen Lüner SV 2 : 0
28 01.03.1964 SV Herten 07 Alemannia Aachen 1 : 2
29 08.03.1964 Alemannia Aachen TuS Duisburg 48/99 4 : 0
30 15.03.1964 Rot-Weiss Essen Alemannia Aachen 2 : 3
31 22.03.1964 Alemannia Aachen Duisburger SpV 1900 6 : 0
32 30.03.1964 Westfalia Herne Alemannia Aachen 1 : 2
33 05.04.1964 Alemannia Aachen Sportfreunde Siegen 1 : 0
34 12.04.1964 Bayer 04 Leverkusen Alemannia Aachen 0 : 2
35 19.04.1964 Alemannia Aachen Arminia Bielefeld 8 : 0
36 26.04.1964 Wuppertaler SV Alemannia Aachen 2 : 2
37 03.05.1964 Alemannia Aachen TSV Marl-Hüls 0 : 1
38 10.05.1964 Rot-Weiß Oberhausen Alemannia Aachen 3 : 0
Now compare this with the REAL thing at http://www.ochehoppaz.de/1963-64.htm. See something strange? Yeah, the order and dates of some rounds are messed up. Looks like the authors of Toooor used the original fixture dates, but somehow did not take into account the reordering of rounds.
I don't even mention the Saturday/Sunday issue (some of Alemannia's games in this and following seasons were played on Saturday).
But there's more: according to Toooor, a player called Heinz Willms appeared in the 8:0 rout of Arminia Bielefeld. It was his only appearance this season. But if you look at the season review link given above, he's nowhere to be found. Smells like a copyright trap if you ask me.
And then of course, there is the price; back in 2007 I bled myself to pay over 100 euro for what I thought is (or soon would be) the most complete reference for the European cups. I even supplied them with missing data for Polish teams and players. Two years later, the database is still uncompleted, with many EC2 and EC3 games for the 70s and 80s missing. Eventually I gave up the hope and switched to sites such as www.tercertiempo.es to research that area.
And now they have the cheek to demand 180 euro (or 200 if you're not a previous subscriber) for a bunch of data that are unverified, incomplete, or outright false (50/70 for the software and 130 for the subscription). And the worst thing is, you can't buy access for a month for ~10 euro like it was possible last year. If the company offered genuine data with frequent updates of historical stats, I would be the first to shell out hard cash.
But maybe you can use the software for your own stats? Not at all - the interface is a nightmare and the learning curve seemed extremely steep to me, with all those numbered tabs strewn about with no rhyme or reason. I won't even mention the gray background and 16-color buttons that make my eyes bleed, since football statisticians are not required to possess a refined aesthetical sense.
If you have the patience to translate this rant and send it out to the Computer Bild editor, the verdict may yet swing in DFS's favor O0
