I have just read that the 50,000th Bundesliga goal is likely this weekend (if 23 or more are scored), so of course I had to check this in DFS.
As it turned out, DFS can give you a total number of goals scored in a league (as opposed to the entire database), but there is a catch. You need to check for walkovers and adjust the total amount accordingly. In this case, DFS shows 49,968 but the correct sum is 49,977 actually scored (75/76 K'lautern-Fortuna 1 goal less, 92/93 Uerdingen-Eintracht 5 goals more, 94/95 Eintracht-Bayern 5 goals more).
I'm aware that doing the calculation the correct way would be rather difficult, because the program does not store the actual result (which is identical to the official result in almost all cases). Just mentioning this before someone else discovers the discrepancy and files a bug report.
